What's Old is New Again

I started with a shirt that my college roommate, Kellyn, brought me from her study abroad trip to Italy.  It was perfect for me because I love pink and roses.  Years have passed and I don't wear the shirt anymore, but I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to turn it into a cute little creation for Miss Heidi Sage.

The original shirt.
I began by removing the flower from the shirt by carefully cutting around the entire flower.
I then straightened up my cut edge.
I left enough space to finish the cut edge and sew the flower to the shirt.  But I made sure to cut close enough that the backing wouldn't show when the flower was attached to the shirt.

I turned under the raw edge and sewed it all the way around.
I laid the flower on the shirt to determine the placement and then pinned it in place.
I then sewed the flower to the onesie.
The flower petals were drooping just a little bit so I stitched them down in a few places to make them stand up better during wear.
A cute little outfit for a cute little girl. The outfit styled as I think it should be worn.
Next time you're cleaning your closet out think about what things you can reuse or re-purpose!
