I don't know if you had the same reaction I did, but after reading Chelsea's Rectangle Skirt Tutorial, I was like, "Hey! I can do that." I haven't...but it's on my list of things to do as soon as Baby #3 makes his arrival.
I think one of the reasons the little outfits are so cute is because Chelsea does such a great job of picking out fabrics. It's amazing what a difference it makes to think outside the box a bit on a fabric for a little girl. Not only are bright and bold colors a step away from the typical pale pink, but they're striking on a little girl.
I can't help but think Heidi Sage looks adorable in this royal purple and black combo. Chelsea just made a simple applique for the onesie by copying an image from the skirt...and it's so cute! And, of course, don't forget that BOW! Not only is the color combo out of the box, but that's not your typical "baby" print. It's glasses!?! Who would even think that would be cute on a little girl? But it totally is.
This is another variation of the same skirt and onesie, but it looks completely different. Again, just thinking outside the box on color combos makes such a statement...and the out-of-the-ordinary print assures no one else will be sporting the same outfit! Chelsea just made a VERY simple circle flower embellishment out of the skirt fabric for the onesie. You could sew it on, or pin it on in order to use the onesie for other outfits. So versatile!
I hope this gives you a spark of inspiration to start thinking of ways to diversify your little ones wardrobe, while still being practical and totally on budget! If you start creating, post your pictures on our FB wall so we can see what you've come up with. The sky's the limit!
